RCA Australia has a local team of Geotechnicians and technicians working at our annex laboratory servicing the $1.7 billion Hunter Expressway Project. The Hunter Expressway will provide a 40 kilometre link between the F3 and Branxton.
RCA provides a range of geotechnical testing services for the 27km western section being constructed by Abigroup which reaches from Kurri Kurri to Branxton.
Some of RCA’s testing services include:
- Nuclear density gauge testing;
- RTA HILF rapid compactions;
- Atterberg limits, California Bearing Ratio tests, particle size distributions and unconfined compressive strength testing;
- Benkelmen Beam deflection testing;
- Aggregate testing.
This project began in May 2011 and at its peak RCA had approximately 40 staff on site completing up to 1500 tests per week. RCA Project Manager Joe Scully has overseen laboratory operations for this project which is scheduled to end in December 2013.
